Optimize Your Outfit–In and Out of the Saddle

Finding the right clothes for riding can be tough.

Balancing that perfect fit with optimal range of motion (in and out of the saddle) and personal aesthetic, all while keeping to a reasonable budget? That sounds like a tall order!

However, checking all those boxes is possible with Thiandro Equestrian Products and their new apparel line.

Beginning with Base Layers

Thiandro Equestrian Products offers the Essential Base Layer, a versatile top that’s perfect for the saddle, stable, and beyond.

The medium-weight material is stretchy and breathable yet supportive, and offers UPF 50+ protection from the sun. Plus, it’s crafted from sustainably sourced materials you can feel good about wearing.

The Essential Base Layer currently comes in three patterns: Azure Rose Garden (my personal favorite!), Cafe Au Lait Two-Tone, and Sage Two-Tone.

I wore the Azure Rose Garden base layer to the office and received several compliments on it!

The eye-catching, bold pattern is professional enough to wear out around town, not just at the barn.

For reference, I ordered a small, which fit perfectly! (I’m 5’2” and about 125 lbs)

An added bonus? Shedding season is in full swing here in Colorado, and despite getting absolutely covered in mule fuzz, it quickly and easily brushes off this fabric.

These tops come in a variety of inclusive sizes from XS to 3XL.

Bottoms that Won’t Budge

The best way to describe Thiandro Essential Riding Tights would be to compare them to your favorite yoga pants, but optimized for time spent in the saddle.

They are super stretchy, yet supportive, with an ultra-thick waistband. Made with medium-weight fabric, these pants provide support without feeling constricting.

Thiandro riding tights in the saddle

I tested these tights in February, and can confirm that they are versatile enough to wear year-round.

Moisture-wicking properties will keep you cool in the warmer months, while the UPF 50+ rated fabric shields your skin from harmful UV rays.

Plus, just like the Base Layer tops, these riding tights are made from sustainable materials (73% recycled polyester and 27% spandex), making them an eco-friendly option.

These riding tights come with full-seat grip for added security in the saddle. I’ve ridden in some full-seat breeches that stuck to the saddle more than me, but not these! They provided some helpful “stick” without leaving marks on the leather or causing any chafing.

Available in a range of sizes (XS-3XL), these riding tights really do fit a variety of body shapes and sizes.

I ordered the riding tights in a size Medium.

I’m pretty short, so I was a little worried about the pants being too long. However, this was not an issue–I was able to easily shift the fabric around and for a comfortable fit without visible bunching. I’ve got wider calves, but these tights had plenty of stretch and fit comfortably.

Case Study

I wore my new outfit for a full day of riding and barn chores. Did I get slobbered on? Yes. Covered in hair? Check.

However, most of the normal barn-dirt brushed right off, allowing me to run an errand on the way home without feeling self-conscious about the state of my attire.

The base layer and tights were comfortable all day long. The pants didn’t stretch out or sag. Plus, they were easy to wash and held up beautifully after a normal wash & dry cycle.

These garments are a valued addition to my riding wardrobe–I couldn’t be more pleased!
