I’m Tara Coyote, residing in the radiant heart of Phoenix, Arizona, seemingly basking in a picturesque suburban life with my husband, a thriving Pilates studio, and an enchanting Brady Bunch-style family. But beneath this seemingly idyllic surface lies a profound tale of transformation and healing.

I am the founder of Wind Horse Sanctuary, a place where my passion for equine healing finds its fullest expression. Certified as an Eponaquest ‘Equine Facilitated Learning’ instructor, life coach, workshop leader, writer, and dancer, my life has been intricately woven with the therapeutic essence of horses since my youth.

My journey, deeply connected to horses, took a pivotal turn during a time of profound life shifts. It was Linda Kohanov’s book, ‘The Tao of Equus,’ that rekindled my spiritual connection with these majestic creatures. It sparked a profound shift, prompting me to leave behind my successful Pilates studio and embark on a courageous quest to follow my heart’s calling: healing people through horses. This transition led me back to my roots, my ancestral land in Kaua’i, Hawaii, where Wind Horse Sanctuary found a new home.

At the sanctuary, I specialize in fostering the human-horse bond, guiding individuals through the depths of grief, loss, and life transitions. Through private sessions and aiding caregivers, I aim to be a beacon of support and healing. My journey battling late-stage breast cancer has been a defining chapter. Sharing my health journey publicly via blogs, YouTube, and social media, I strive to inspire hope and resilience for those facing similar challenges.

Horses aren’t just animals; they’re guides on a transformative path, fostering self-awareness and equilibrium amidst life’s trials. My work delves deep into shadow exploration and leading women’s groups, empowering individuals to embrace and understand their shadows.

Beyond my devotion to equine healing, my commitment to wildlife shines through support for the Wild Beauty Foundation, advocating for North America’s wild horses. My books, such as ‘Grace, Grit & Gratitude: A Cancer Thriver’s Journey from Hospice to Full Recovery with the Healing Power of Horses’ and ‘Comanche the Wild Mustang,’ share my journey and aim to empower others.
