Matt Mills, a renowned figure in the equestrian world, is a distinguished trainer and competitor based in Scottsdale, Arizona. With a notable career as an NRHA Million Dollar Rider, USEF Open Reining Champion, and a proud member of Team USA, he clinched the gold medal at the 2006 World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Aachen, Germany. Matt’s journey into the world of horses began in Southern California at a young age, initially showcasing his talent in various equestrian disciplines such as western pleasure, horsemanship, and trail, earning numerous championships throughout the region. However, in 1996, his focus transitioned to reining, leading him to establish his own training operation in Scottsdale, Arizona, training and showcasing futurity and derby horses while coaching successful non-pro and youth riders.

A career highlight was his win at the 2006 USEF Open Reining Championship in Lexington, Kentucky, riding Easy Otie Whiz, earning a career-high score of 231.5 and a place on Team USA at the WEG. Recognized for his remarkable skills, Matt consistently ranks on the NRHA Top Twenty Professionals Riders list, boasting lifetime earnings surpassing $1,000,000.00. His triumphs include numerous titles at major NRHA events, such as the NRHA Intermediate Open Futurity Reserve Champion and accolades at prestigious competitions like the National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC), RMRHA Summer Slide, High Roller Reining Classic, SWRHA Futurity, and NRHA Cowtown Classic. His prowess, professionalism, and amiable personality have led to high demand for his clinics across the United States, Europe, and Mexico.

Matt’s core support and motivation stem from his family, including his wife, Karen, and children Ryan, Alec, and Emma. Beyond his equestrian engagements, he cherishes his family time, enjoying activities such as basketball, golf, and spending quality moments with his loved ones.
