Hi there! I’m Sanne, an enthusiastic equestrian and passionate globetrotter. My journey with horses began in childhood, and my love for exploration kicked off in 2015. Through a blend of these passions, I’ve adventurously traversed over 30 countries on horseback, and I’m excited to share my experiences and the profound lessons I’ve gathered. Join me as I invite you on yearly equestrian meet-ups through my adventures!
Leaving international school in the Netherlands at 17, I embarked on a trip with my mother to South Africa for a horseback safari, which completely captured my heart. The beauty of the country, the majestic horses, and the breathtaking landscapes left an indelible mark on me. Subsequently, I decided to volunteer at the horse safari company for three months, and soon after, I found myself returning to South Africa. This kicked off a period of frequent travel between Africa and the Netherlands.
In an attempt to settle in the Netherlands and pursue a medical education in 2018, I found my heart still longing for the vast plains and incredible experiences in Africa. The yearning became too profound to ignore, prompting me to venture back to South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, and Malawi in the summer of 2019. It was during this trip that I made the life-altering decision to follow my passion for horses and travel, leading me to part ways with medical school. This choice has undoubtedly been the best decision I’ve made, bringing me an unparalleled sense of happiness.
At 22, I am a zealous traveler, a nature enthusiast, and an unwavering lover of horses. Having excelled as a dressage rider in the Netherlands, I shifted gears in 2015 to become a horse trails guide across various European and African countries. I share my experiences and insights on horse travel, working with, and volunteering for horses on my website www.hoovesaroundtheworld.com. My aim is to inspire you to chase your dreams and equip you with the necessary information to travel the world on horseback. Join me in this exhilarating journey!
