Earlier this year Sophie Tunnah (from Team Tunnah Eventing) set up a Facebook group ‘Equestrian Bloggers‘ with the goal of creating a community of like minded bloggers. The group currently has bloggers from across the world including England, America, Australia, Norway, Ireland and Finland). We participate in a variety of disciplines and all bring unique views and skills to the group.
As someone who is still relatively new to equestrian blogging, I have found being a member of this group incredibly helpful. Members share their tips for creating great content, SEO and growing your social media presence.Whilst the primary purpose of the group is to share blogging knowledge, we also use a number of strategies share content within the group and to generate more traffic to individual bloggers sites. Sophie talks about some of these in her blog post on the group.
As a group we also make use of our own Twitter account (@EquineBlogChat, the hashtag #EquestrianBloggers and an instapod to help get our material seen.
There have also been opportunities to be involved in larger group style blog posts. As well as being fun these group posts are a great way to contribute to a bigger body of work and drive more traffic back to your site. The first one that I contributed to was organised by Sophie about why we blog. More recently I coordinated a post The Equestrian’s Guide to Motivation. Heather Wallace of Bridle and Bone recently hosted our first ever Equestrian Blog Hop – you can read my post here.
Whilst this is a closed group, we would love more members – because like so many things in life, the more the merrier. To join just send a request through to the group and you will be prompted to enter your blog’s URL and your request will soon be approved!
We’d love to see you over in the group!
Sounds like a great idea. I have just requested to join ????????
It’s great to see you over there! Hopefully you find it as useful as I do
Totally agree, it’s a really fab group.
